In an effort to reduce the roster to 53 players before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, the Steelers made three more roster cuts on Monday afternoon.
On Monday afternoon, the organization announced the dismissal of kicker Matthew Wright, defensive back Kyler McMichael, and offensive lineman Anderson Hardy.
In April, Wright was signed by the Steelers for a fourth time. After going undrafted in 2019, he signed an initial contract with the team. The following year, he rejoined the squad following a brief spell with the XFL.
In three games that season, he made all four field goals and all seven extra points that he attempted. In 2022, he returned for four more games while Chris Boswell was out with an injury.
During that time, Wright was 12-of-14 on field goals, and in his career, he has also kicked for the Jaguars, Panthers, and Chiefs, going 40-of-47.
Boswell will once again kick for the Steelers as a result of his departure.
The Steelers waived linebacker Kyahva Tezino, defensive back Kiondre Thomas, offensive lineman Devery Hamilton, receiver T.J. Luther, running back Daijun Edwards, offensive lineman Tyler Beach, and receiver Jacob Copeland earlier in the day.
