NFL Analyst says Steelers Head Coach Bamboozled everyone

Mike Tomlin will announce the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a few days. And although the very purpose of training camp makes the Russell Wilson vs. Justin Fields matchup more entertaining to watch, Wilson has always had the upper hand.

Dan Orlovsky, an ESPN commentator, feels a little deceived after revealing who, if he were Tomlin, he would start.

It was never a quarterback competition, but I would have started Justin Fields. We were somewhat bewildered.

Orlovsky should take responsibility if he truly feels “bamboozled,” as should everyone else who perceived a rivalry. Tomlin frequently referred to Wilson’s position as “pole position” throughout the summer. It was never implied by Tomlin that Fields was a serious contender for the starting position.

Unquestionably, Fields provides a spark that Wilson just does not have anymore. However, it would be foolish to start Fields and would just create a toxic environment—something the Steelers really don’t need.

For Tomlin, experience will always take precedence over raw talent, which is why, despite Fields outperforming him in training camp and the preseason, the Super Bowl champion never lost his starting position.
