Pittsburgh Steelers willing to send 2nd, 3rd round pick to 49ers in Exchange for Brandon Aiyuk

The Pittsburgh Steelers offered the San Francisco 49ers second- and third-round draft picks in exchange for the rather dissatisfied wide receiver, according to this edition of As the Brandon Aiyuk Turns. That is quite noteworthy, given that the 49ers were purportedly searching for that.

A week and a half ago, Matt Maiocco reported that the 49ers’ trade demands were not something the Steelers were willing to agree to. As much as the [Steelers] might like Aiyuk, they haven’t been prepared to give the 49ers their asking price of draft picks, which includes second- and third-round choices, the author stated in further detail.

The San Francisco Chronicle’s Mike Silver claims that the Steelers are now prepared to accede to that request. The 49ers’ continued desire for a player and their lack of success are the only issues. They intend to use one of those draft selections to acquire a wide receiver from a different team, according to Silver. To their dismay, they are having trouble locating companions who are willing.

In its Last Dance mode, the 49ers demand that any transaction include a current player. The 49ers desired certain starters, like safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, tight end Pat Freiermuth, and receiver George Pickens, but the Steelers were hesitant to part with any of them. However, Pittsburgh is prepared to forfeit second- and third-round draft selections, which prompts the 49ers to consider an other tactic: obtaining a productive wide receiver from a third team in a different deal by using one of those picks

The 49ers haven’t been able to accomplish it thus far. It is becoming likely that Aiyuk will not be leaving, as the Commanders are supposedly no longer following him.

Now, things are beginning to pile up. We previously discussed a rumor claiming that the 49ers and Steelers had an agreement in principle to sign Brandon Aiyuk. Maybe the 49ers were just waiting on that second willing trading partner to make the move. Though they can make their own deal, reports suggested a three-team transaction in which one team sent a receiver to the 49ers.

There is no clear schedule for a settlement, until Brandon Aiyuk caves or the 49ers give him the deal he desires. Any trade situation has an issue since there are several dominoes that need to fall in the correct order. Aiyuk refused to play for the Browns or Patriots, so he scuttled several possible deals to them. However, the 49ers were prepared to make a trade offer to Aiyuk, and they made a higher offer than the Steelers.

In the interim, the 49ers and Aiyuk resumed their conversation about a possible extension. But even now, they haven’t brought this all the way to the finish. San Francisco does not give in just because there appears to be one last detail about the final year of his contract. Furthermore, it doesn’t indicate that Aiyuk just decides to give up.

Perhaps the 49ers’ inability to locate a new receiver is the only thing keeping Brandon Aiyuk from joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are clearly not parting with George Pickens, and they only have one receiver worth dealing. According to one report, even if they signed Aiyuk, they would still consider Pickens to be their best receiver.

The odds appear to be in favor of Aiyuk staying with the 49ers rather than joining the Steelers as time runs out. However, as time goes on, it could always turn around. This might stop today, or it could continue throughout the regular season and the trade deadline.
